Tai Chi Chuan is an ancient Chinese system of physical exercise that promotes total health – physical, emotional, mental and spiritual. It embodies China's most profound concepts and principles of health and movement. Based on softness and awareness (rather than force and resistance) T'ai Chi Chuan promotes well-being by circulating the body’s vital life force (chi or qi) through a series of slow, relaxing movements and has been recognized for thousands of years as both a method of self-cultivation and an unexcelled form of self defence. The gentle and flowing yet rigorous movements of T’ai Chi focus on relaxing and straightening the body. This enhances co-ordination, circulation and balances all body functions.

Traditionally, T’ai Chi has been prescribed both to enhance healing and prevent disease.  With practise, your energy reserves are replenished, your joints become more flexible, and tight muscles learn to loosen and relax.  With the embodiment of the principles of T’ai Chi Chuan it becomes an unexcelled art of self-defence.  A ‘round’ of T’ai Chi takes only 7 – 10 minutes to perform, and can be practised by men and women, young and old alike.  It requires no special equipment or clothing, needing only a smooth floor space.  You will find that the benefits of T’ai Chi will be felt increasingly as you practise the art, and daily ‘rounds’ in the mornings and evenings are recommended.
